My cousin thinks she's fat and told me earlier that she is starving herself to be skinny what do I tell her?! ?

I'm in recovery for anorexia. I was under 80lbs for a long time and I nearly had a heart attack. I had several seizures and was put on a feeding tube. I've had anorexia an bulimia for over five years. Eating disorders are NOT a diet. It is NOT a way to just get thin. She needs to talk to a therapist before it gets out of hand. 1 out of 5 girls with anorexia die. It is one of the top causes of death in young women. Get her help before it controls her life.

I struggled with a combo of anorexia/ bulimia for almost my whole life. I am better now although Its one of those diseases that you deal with your whole life. I will tell you that nothing you say will help her. The best thing you can do is tell her how much you love and care for her and make sure she knows that you are there for her if she needs anything or someone to talk to. Do not judge this disease is not a choice. Just listen. The worst thing you can do is tell her she's getting too skinny or losing weight anything along those lines is like crack to someone with an Ed.

I would be there for her and listen, gently reminding her that it's not the truth. Starving herself is not the answer. Absolutely tell her parents or someone of this, because the earlier she gets help the less chance she has of ruining her life. I was in complete denial when I struggled with anorexia, and if the people I loved hadn't stepped in and made me go to inpatient, I would have died. I'm glad your cousin has someone like you that cares and is concerned. She will thank you down the road when she is living a happy and healthy life.

If she's starving herself, she's harming herself. If someone is willing to go through such unhealthy pain for the sole reason of changing their image (you seem to think that she is healthy) then there is definitely an issue here with her bodily perception. Sometimes, this can be helped with many words of encouragement so that she can learn that she and every woman is beautiful. However, if she does have anorexia then she has a mental disease that should be taken seriously by her family and doctor.

That would be tough for you to handle. I would suggest that she talks to a doctor or therapist to get help. You can tell her how beautiful she is, inside and out. Spend some time with her and encourage her to get healthy.

I'm slightly anorexic, in and out tendencies but I think the one thing she can do it download the app fitstar which is a great workout and do running. Also stick to a vegan diet. See how that works out x

Exercise and eat healthy with her. Try to motivate her to have a healthy life instead of just being skinny. She won't listen if you say that she is pretty or skinny. It won't change anything what you say about the way she looks. Just motivate her to be healthy.

Your going to hate me. But what would do is confide in her trust. Go along with it for a couple of weeks so she doesn't think nothing wrong ( she only cares about Ana). Then tell someone you know then get her help.  You want to help her because Ana girls have trust issues. ( if you have it or recovered or in the process you know). You don't want her to die but she's NOT going to get the help or use it unless she wants to. So learn her trust it will help you and her in the long run. Best wishes.

Not eating messes with your metabolism and can make you gain weight much faster in the future. Tell her it's not worth messing up her body now! Get her to join a sport or dance class for fun and fitness. Sometimes going to the gym and lifting weights helps too because instead of saying "I hate my arms" or whatever, it'll turn into "I can do 15 reps of bicep curls at 12lbs!" And makes you proud of your body instead of uncomfortable
