If you have had a long friendship of a few years before then yes but in my opinion I don't really keep in touch with exs. Me and my man are in the verge of breaking up and the only reason I'm going to keep in touch is because I'm 10 weeks pregnant.

My first I’ve known now for 16 years. We dated the first 5. We haven’t been together in 11 years. I have no want or drive to be with him again. It took about 4 years after we stopped being together, but we are friends now, good friends in fact. 
My second was my husband. Last year he cheated on me and we ended our marriage and the 10 years we spent together. We have 3 boys. We see each other daily. We are friends now. Today he came over to shovel the driveway because I broke my hand and he knows I would struggle. There is no change of reconciliation. I just choose not to stay angry and continue to love him as a friend. It’s better for our children this way.

When somebody becomes my ex, I cut them cut them out of my life completely. I no longer keep any mutual friends,dont commjnicate with their  family, block them from all social media(i dont have any), and change my number.

I have an ex that I remained pretty close with for a number of years. Once he was married, I no longer contact him. Not because I still want to be with him but out of respect for his wife. We still see each other occasionally when he's up to visit family because his father is with my cousin and so we will always be connected through his youngest siblings (my younger cousins). He is the one person I have dated that I remained friends with and had a platonic relationship with after our break up.

I feel like you can absolutely be friends with an ex but when you get in a new relationship you should stop talking to them unless you have a child with them. honestly it will just cause problems between you and your new partner.

im friends worth couple of my ex on fb but i only talk to one of then we are both married happy with our lives etc we talk like normal  friends and dont bring up the relationship we had
