Are humidifiers really necessary?

FTM here, working on my registry. My humidifier research has me lost and unsure if LO needs it. We live in TN. It’s humid here most of the year, allergies are bad, but I would be surprised if we dry baby’s skin out. Hardly ever have to run the heat too. I have read it’s nice when baby is congested, but is it worth getting one if we only use it a few times a year? Opinions and experiences appreciated. TIA

I didn’t register for one, but I bought a cheapy when my daughter was sick. We use it for every time one of us is sick now. Worth the expense, but not something I’d add to a baby registry.

Well I said a must but not if your in a humid area.  Nice to have for colds, but maybe just buy a cheaper one when that time comes

You can but a little indoor humidity monitor off amazon for about $7. I suggest that, see what it’s like in your house for a while, then make the decision on a humidifier. Where I live, half the year is so humid I want to die and the other half is so dry I want to die lol. So I use a humidifier for about 6 months/year.

It's humid here most of the time. I used to use a vaporiser with eucalyptus oil in it if my son had a cold but that was it
