I switched to the implant (Nexplanon) on September 18th. I was on the depo shot but my doctor suggested switching so I don’t have to come back every 3 months for the shot. Well, I got my first real period on January 4th and it hasn’t slowed down. In fact it’s gotten heavier and it doesn’t look like it’s gonna slow down any time soon. Is this normal? I’ve heard that this is normal in the first 3 months but I’m in the 4th month. And i’ve had spotting but not a real period with cramps and all that. The whole reason I got on birth control was to help with my cramps. They were brutal to the point where I would curl up on the floor not being able to move. Should I contact my doctor or should I just wait it out? My cramps are awful and my period is crazy heavy. I’ll bleed through the super-plus tampons within 3 hours. My mom’s anemic from heavy periods so this is worrying me. What do you suggest?
