Joint Accounts?

Should a married couple have joint checking/savings accounts?  Are side accounts okay?

we have a joint account and we have our own personal credit cards but (before I became a stay at home mom) we put our money in one account and pay all our bills and such from it. no secrets, no my money is for me stuff. it works for us.

Husband and I have separate accounts and separate credit cards. 
Works for us. 
It’s easier to keep track of money that way. 
But what works for us, might not work for everyone else. 
Finances are definitely not a one size fits all.

Whatever works for you. Personally we have joint checking & savings accounts plus our own single checking & savings. 
We use the joint checking for bills and to transfer money easily. We both contribute to the joint savings for saving for things like home repairs, unexpected medical bills, or something. We spend out of our single accounts and save money for ourselves for large purchases or whatever.

I think it’s better to have same account but really it’s up to the couple. We have joint account and I do the budget. It’s easier for us bc my hubby sucks with bills and stuff. I will never get a joint account because my man struggles with a gambling addiction so I'm in charge of money. His paycheck even goes to my checking account on pay day.

My partner and I have seperate bank accounts and we've been together for six years. I say whatever works best for you. 🙂 Don't feel pressured to do something just cause others say it's the 'norm'.  🙂

For us we have our joint account and then we each have a seperate account for our fun money and whatnot.
So that way when we buy Christmas and birthday presents it’s not like oh hey here’s that thing you bought yourself lol.

We have two joint accounts. One is used for our fixed monthly expenses (mortgage, insurance, electricity, internet, Netflix). The other is used for groceries and baby stuff and misc for the household. We deposit the same amount every month into that. And then we both have our own accounts to do whatever we want with.

It’s not like it’s mandatory. Some married couples have a joint account, some don’t, and some have both. Any situation can work, depending on the couple.
