It hurt me, but only because I used them completely incorrectly 😂 
Pro tip: push BACK more that UP. After some self exploration I found out that contrary to the confusingly hairless diagrams in sex Ed, your vagina does not go straight up. 
Also insert the whole applicator into your vagina before pushing the tampon out of the applicator. Putting the applicator at just the opening of your vagina doesn't allow you to place the tampon correctly. 
Take it out when you notice the edge of the string is pink, or before 8 hours

It shouldn’t hurt! If it is hurting you then you haven’t put it in right. When a tampon is properly in you shouldn’t be able to feel it at all! Don’t be scared to try tampons! It will take a few tries for you to get used to putting them in! Also i suggest getting tampons with the plastic applicator, it makes it so much easier for newbies!

It helps significantly to prop one leg up on like a drawer or the bathtub, and to push back more than just up.

It was uncomfortable for me especially because I was only 11 when I started using them. Then I learned that because I'm so small the only comfortable tampons are compact tampons. 😊

If it does hurt, it’s because you’re not putting it in right or you bought to high of an absorbency level for your flow. Tampons should never hurt!
You may also experience a little discomfort if you have a hymen that’s still intact.
