Depending on exactly what level of brown hair you have this may go on ok without prelightening, also if you have never coloured your hair before you wouldnt have to lighten first if you use a higher developer on virgin hair, but their is a chance it wont be as vibrant if you decide not to lighten! If you’re wanting it to be noticeably vibrant & bright i would prelighten it & definitely get it done professionally (if you aren’t already) because if you’re wanting that more natural “auburn” sometimes that colour will go “muddy” on the ends of your hair & really vibrant on the roots! It can be tricky 😊

Probably not. I’ve done that color on dark brown hair before, and I didn’t have to bleach it first.

For the darker red in that photo I would say no. For the lighter highlights I would say yes. I have medium brown hair. I have gone shades of darker red without bleach, but have had to bleach for lighter shades
