first appt.at 11 weeks

so just a question is it normal for the first time for me to see a doctor or have any kind of exam to not be until I'm 11 weeks? I found out I was pregnant 3 days before missed period, waited a week to call doctor they then scheduled me for my first ultrasound and first appointment on the same day, I will be 11 weeks. This is my second child, my daughter will be 5 this March and I remember when I was pregnant with her I had an appointment with my midwife at like 6 weeks. Is this because it's a second pregnancy and first had no complications? I guess I'm just worried because I don't know how everything is going with the baby until the end of my first trimester.
