Two miscarriages - now what?

Question

Just found out today that I will have my second miscarriage. The first one was at 5 1/2 weeks. This one is closer to 7 weeks after having success with our first IUI. There were two sacs but only one embryo. The embryo is still in there (stopped growing at 6 weeks 1 day) but with a fading heartbeat. I have to wait for it to stop before we do anything. Still debating natural vs. meds vs D&C but leaning towards natural (w meds if it doesn't happen quick enough). Pretty heartbreaking. My husband and I are 29 and 30 and healthy - TTC our first. All of my tests came normal (Day 3, HSG, genetic testing etc). My husband just has mild progression issue but otherwise fit as a fiddle. I'm wondering now that I've had two miscarriages in a row (a year apart) if we should move on to IVF (w genetic testing) or give IUI another shot. The doctor seems to be proposing both as options. Currently just sad and angry that I'm the 2% that has two miscarriages in a row. Worried there's a bigger issue here that I don't know about. Nervous to try IUI again. Jen

I'm so sorry for your losses. I can't offer you advice because it's so different for everyone but I thought I would share my experience. Like you, I just experienced my second loss and we are trying to conceive our first. I had a natural miscarriage the first time. My doctor wanted to do the D&C the second time so he could test the tissues because it is so rare to have two losses in a row. I felt like both options I chose were right for me based on my experiences. I'm hoping that we can get some insight and figure out what happened.

I'm so sorry for your little angels! I know exactly how you fell hun! I jus had my second miscarriage in 6 months! I tried to have a natural miscarriage but after a week of non stop pain I had a D&C. 
  We decided to go back to do IUI in 3-4 months. To be honest with you I'm terified of miscarrying again! But in the same time we really want to have a second baby. It is a really hard decision to take. In the and we will risk the posibility of another miscarriage in the hope that we will be able to hold our baby.

I have 4 live babies. None with my husband. We have tried twice. One miscarriage feb 2014 and this past Monday we lost our rainbow baby. It's beyond confusing.

I don't have any advice for you, I just wanted to say I'm sorry for your losses. No matter what you decide it will be the right decision..good luck with everything!

I'm sorry for your losses. I had a missed miscarriage in Nov. at 11 weeks (baby measured 7 weeks 3 days) after having a blighted ovum in Aug. Since my body didn't seem to recognize the loss, I had a D&C. The dr said I could wait for it to happen naturally, but my sister did that and the pain & bleeding went on for months. I wanted to get it over with and start trying again (I'm AMA). It's a very personal decision. Hopefully you have support from your SO. That helped me a lot. Prayers for you!
