Doppler?

Had my 12w2d apt today and only thing the doctor did was listened to my baby with the doppler and she told me he/she was growing. Anyone know how you can tell the baby is growing by just doing that?

Because if the baby is under a certain amount of weeks along you can't hear heartbeat with a Doppler. If it is heard with Doppler then that's a sign baby is growing. They have to be so big before hearing heartbeat with a doppler😄

I know when my baby was around 10 weeks, baby's heart rate was much quicker than when I went in for a 14 or 16 week appointment. In the beginning it was 174 bpm, and now at 20 weeks it's around 142 bpm. Maybe it ha to do with that.
