How committed are you?

So, I'm currently on season 2 episode 1 of The Crown. I don't know anything about the royal family, so I'm officially getting a crash course in royal family 101. I saw how King Edward gave up his family, his life, and his crown....for love. I also just watch how Princess Margaret gave up the love of her life....for her family, life and her royal duties. So, my question is, could you give up family, job, country and maybe your status, for love? ****BONUS QUESTION TO COMMENT ON***- If a person doesn't choose love, was it really love?

I would give up anything except my family for ~love~, but it would have to be really hardcore love. I’m not leaving my job for some idiot because I think I like him.

I’m living in Norway where I’m an immigrant (which like in most countries means I’m considered less than the native population). So I guess I’ve lost status. None of my family lives here so in some sense I guess I lost that. I currently am not working and likely won’t for another year and a half due to baby making. So I don’t have a job. But I do have a Norwegian husband who is amazing and wonderful and makes every day better than it could ever have been without him.

If we are talking about being royalty, no  Thing is, its DUTY  I would feel obligated to stay with my family and country. In an ideal world i would totally run away for love, but i have a responsibility to lead a country, to be a ruler. It would be selfish of me to put my needs over the people’s.

Watch "The Windsors"  on Netflix that's a better crash course into the royal family although "The Crown" is a great behind the scenes into the family...But it depends if I gave anything up for love I wouldn't come crawling back expecting everything to be ok

It’s not really love if they force you to make that choice... 
Edward gave up what was essentially a responsibility and also made a point about outdated traditions in one swoop, he didn’t give up his life or his family. Easy choice

I wouldn’t be willing to give everything up for love. Call me a cynic if you want, but I’m giving up everything I ever built for myself or knew for something that might not even work out? Besides that, that’s a huge risk of me resenting my significant other for everything I gave up for them. I think it’s still love even if you don’t choose them, it’s just that some things are more important than love.

Yes I would give up everything for the one I love because I wouldn’t be happy with everything without that person. I think you can choose the other and love the person but you’re not inlove. There are different types of loves. If you knew the person was your soul mate you’d give up anything in my opinion.

I don’t need anyone. I don’t need a man. I want a partner in life, but no, I’m not giving up my life for anyone.

I’m not sure. Depends. And if I chose duty, over love...that doesn’t mean my Love was superficial. It means the responsibility of the duty I felt outweighed my feelings.
