Husband isn't getting along w/ my father

So in the beginning of mine and my dh's marriage we needed some help financially, my parents more were than willing to give us a small loan to help see us through our hard times as they understood that sometimes couples have these issues. However my dh kinda just dismissed paying my parents back the money we owed. A few weeks ago my father wrote to me asking about the owed funds and I brought it up with my dh we pulled out the cash and finally paid my parents back. My dh is extremly put off by this and says he doesn't want to see my father until his behavior changes??? I've told him that we did in fact owe them this money but he just wants to act childish in regards to the situation and is constantly chastising my parents for what they choose to spend the money on.
