What’s the deal with e-cigarettes and newborns?

My mother in law does it and idk if we should tell her she can’t have it when she comes to stay for like two weeks when the baby comes or if it’s completely safe. I do plan on asking my doctor at my next appointment but I figured I’d ask for other people experiences too!

I know it can cause popcorn lung in people who smoke it. Not sure what it'd to do a baby as there's no studies on it yet that I'm aware of.

As far as I know, the cartridges or whatever you call them still have nicotine in so I recon not safe. I know for surgery they require you to stop smoking e-cigarettes just like they do normal ones.

Just tell her she needs to do it outside as if she were smoking a cigarette it will actually be a lot better since with e cigs smoke doesn’t go into clothes or hands since there is no smoke. But shouldn’t be using it in the room with baby

They are safe for baby to be around as long as she buys the ones without nicotine if they have nicotine then the baby is still breathing nicotine so I wouldn't advise it

They still have nicotine as the other person said, but they also put a lot of moisture (water) in your lungs.

The only thing that is in those juices are Vegetable Glycerin and Propylene Glycol also known as VG and PG and some of the candy mix you can buy at the store and sometimes added nicotine all of which are perfectly fine around baby except nicotine

Are you really going to tell a grown woman she “can’t have it” ? That’s a bit much. I would definitely say your not comfortable with her using it around your child, of course, that is reasonable, but trying to control what someone else does is only going to frustrate you in the end.

My husband uses these and we have a 5 week old. However he doesn’t do it around our daughter. It were at home, he goes outside. If we’re in the car, he waits until we stop and he steps out of the car. Its not actual nicotine in them. It’s basically vegetable oil. All that comes out is water vapor.
