Do you consider yourself "well read"?

What's your bookshelf look like? Do you read books to learn something or just for entertainment? Do you think it's important to read books that are outside your comfort zone?

Since I moved and have to commute 40 mins each way I started listening to book, I've 'read' 64 since we moved here 2 years ago. I love it. It's expanded the type of book I read too. I really think it opens your mind. It's the most wonderful thing. One thing my child (if I have one) will always be allowed is as many books as they want. My husband studied literature so our house is crammed with books

I go through periods where I read everything I can get my hands on and then I'll go a few months without reading much. I've been working my way through a list Time published a few years ago of the top 100 modern novels. I'm not always in the mood to read a "classic".

Right now I'm reading Citizen by Rankine. Just finished Americannah. Have a huge stack of books including some baby books, cook books, a book on coaching teachers that I'm also reading bits a time. I read quickly so I'm always in the middle of a handful of books.

I like reading religiously themed nonfiction. Stuff that ties biblical prophecy into a modern day scenario. The "Left Behind" series is amazing. I also liked "The Harbinger". I'm currently several chapters deep in about 3 other books. My adult ADD makes reading difficult sometimes...lol!

I started reading independently at 3, and never stopped. I've been reading a lot of memoirs and biographies lately. My Life in France by Julia Child was fascinating.

I read a lot of semi-trashy historical fiction. I try to read more literary fiction on occasion. I do love to read investigative journalism.

I read a lot, then not at all. I tend to go through phases. Sometimes trashy stuff, other times something a bit more high-brow. I'm OK with anything. I also used to hate kindles until I got one lol.
