Belly button options at birth..??

So I overhear my coworker telling another coworker (who is pregnant) to think about what type of belly button she wants her baby to have. He said that after his wife gave birth to all 3 of their kids that the doctor asked them if they wanted the baby to have an "inny" or an "outty" belly button. Then she did something to their belly button right in the delivery room to ensure what they wanted. (Cut the cord a certain way..? IDK). I have NEVER heard of this. Also to add, I delivered both of my kids at the same hospital as his wife and have never been asked this question. Is this really a thing?? I'm so perplexed by this. I thought it was all genetics.
