First appointment date?

Hi, I got my BFP on Sunday and worked out I’m now 4 weeks 2 days pregnant. I called the GP to book in but they don’t want to see me until I’m 9 weeks. Is this normal? 
I feel like I need someone official to tell me it’s true! Done two tests but it still doesn’t feel real!

Hi yes that's normal, I know how you feel though and I'm on baby 3 lol! 1st midwife appt. normally 8-10 weeks then 1st scan 12-14 weeks! x

yes its normal and they dont test you again then anyway so it all relies on the tests you take at home until your first scan around 12 weeks. x

Yep. I found it bizzare. I made an appointment with the gp as I assumed that that was what you would do. He just looked at me like,’ why are you telling me?”
I  live in London so you just refer yourself to the hospital online. I’m not sure you even need to tell the gp! They don’t test you again at all so the first assurance you get is the 12 week scan unfortunately.. it’s a wait but it’s worth it. Good luck

Thanks both, yes it’s midwife appointment I have booked for 9 weeks. I just want the next 8 weeks to go quickly and uneventfully. I don’t know how I’m going to keep it quiet all that time!! 😁

Yeh, my first was at 8 weeks (today). Then they said midwife at 10 weeks and scan at 12 weeks.

i had an appointment with my GP at 5 weeks and they referred me to the local midwife team I'm now 8 wks and have just received a letter saying my booking appointment isn't until I'm 14 wks and to call this number to set up my scans and tests for genetic issues.
I'm really disappointed I thought I would of seen my midwife way before 14 wks.

My doctor wanted to see me, gave me a flu jab and advice on what not to eat etc. And they gave me the phone number to self refer to the midwives, and the first appointment with them was around 10 weeks. I’m in Scotland though so maybe slightly different?
