Starving Him??

Question

My little boy is 7 months now and won't sleep through the night. He will wake up around 2 or 3 for milk occasionally twice a night. He eats a solid dinner followed by bath and a little milk to get him to sleep. My pediatrician recommended denying him milk when he wakes up and letting him cry it out. Has anyone else done this? He woke up twice yesterday the first time he fell back asleep but the second time I couldn't help but feed him because he looked at me all sad and was screaming like he was starving. I really want him to learn but I don't want him to feel abandoned or hungry. Help.

No DO NOT ever starv a child EVER they wake because they are hungry they need to eat get a new dr this one is fucking insane

Your not starving him, as babies get older they start waking up at night just out of habit instead of hunger, the whole idea it to break that habit. If you feel bad try using a bottle of water instead of milk.

When you fed him during the night, did he eat like he was really hungry, or did he just seem to need comforting? I would follow your instincts.

7 months is really really really young to wean from night feedings.  babies are not robots for Christ's sake. some babies sleep through the night at 3 months . but the majority wake up at night multiple times. yes habit maybe when they reach 1 . they are only babies once. you can try on wakings to see if your bany goes back to sleep after some fussing but i would just give her the milk even if it's for confort. it won't be forever. They do grow out of these things. good luck.

I don’t see it as starving your child. Plus the pediatrician wouldn’t recommend something that would starve your child. I think they are just trying to help give suggestions of getting him in a better routine. Like maybe if he knows he’s not getting a second feeding he will take more at the first.

This is not starving your child if they are eatingplenty during the day, you have to break thenigh5t time feedings eventually. Mine is 7 months old in a week and he sleeps through the night since 5 months old.

I give him more at the last meal of the day around 8pm and if i hear him wake up overnight unless he really starts crying I let him go and he always falls back asleep, if he keeps crying ill check his diaper and comfort him for a minute but i do not feed him. He is happy and healthy and gaining weight on track and we are happier b/c we can sleep and be better parents when we are awake.

I would try weaning him down to one small meal a night and let him adjust then eventually cut it off to none. I am sure he is eating plenty during the day.

The pediatrician wouldn't recommend it if it was not ok. Its important part of their development to learn to sleep through the night and comfort themselves
