Flying back to have baby?

Question

Has anyone lived abroad for a couple of years then flown home at the end of the pregnancy to be with family and have it there? 
I’m going to be totally alone the entire pregnancy and birth otherwise and it scares me so sooo much. But from google I can see people have had hefty bills from the NHS as technically it’s classed as international even though I’m a U.K. citizen and pay taxes?! 
Does anyone have any insight or experience with this?

Where are you living out of interest? Bare in mind that you can’t fly too close to you or due date so be prepared to head back to the UK a good 6-8 weeks before your due if you decide to go down that route.

We live on a small island off Japan... Hubs is US military, so we would have all birthing, pre and postnatal paid for. But.. I live an hour drive from the base/ hospital in a Japanese area which I know no1 in. My work friends live further away than the hospital.. and my husband and all his team/friends will be deployed 😳 I wouldn’t even know how to phone a Japanese taxi 😂 I can imagine trying to drive myself to the hospital and giving birth!

I can’t say that I have experienced returning home for the birth but I understand how you are feeling. I am 16 weeks and living in the US with no family or close friends nearby so am scared of having to go through this on my own. 
However I have arranged most visits from family and friends to fly out just after baby is born and asked my mil to come over for a few weeks just before and after baby is due. Which she is trying to get the time off work for.
