Items needed?

Hi mommy’s!!!! I’m a FTM and was wondering what items I will be needing for the best breastfeeding experience? I’ve heard of nipple shields? Etc? Just need to know what I need to buy before he’s here!

Nipple shields aren’t necessary unless your LO has a latch problem or you have really sore/cracked nipples. 
Definitely get some lanolin nipple cream! Your nipples will be sore for a while! 
Breast pads (the make disposable and reusable. I personally prefer disposable because I could never get the reusable to work) 
A breast pump. Many insurances will give you one for free. I suggest getting a double electric pump. I have the Medela in style and I like it! 
Don’t stock up on bottles. Some EBF Babies will only take one kind. I got a few to try and realized my baby only took Avent Natural bottles. 
Get yourself some comfortable nighttime nursing bras. You will probably be leaky once your milk comes in! 
I liked using a boppy pillow when my daughter was young to pump and feed her at the same time.

A boppy or my breast friend pillow, nipple cream, pump/pumping supplies if you plan to do that, nursing cover, large water bottle to keep by your side, contact info for a lactation consultant or group in case you need help!

nursing camis are more comfortable than bras to me, but I'm a 40E so I have to wear a bra in public lol. also lanolin and boppy pillow and breast pump. extra storage bags if you're storing milk, I personally love kiinde twist pouches.  and a good pillow for your back!! I have one of those pillows with the arms and it's my fave.

Breast feeding pillow, nursing pads, nursing bras or comfy sports bras. Tank tops, they dont have to be nursing tanks. I just use regular ones they work pretty much the same & you save money. A good double electric pump. I have the Hygeia Enjoye cordless. I loveee it. & that's pretty much it.

Lots of muslin cloths incase baby comes off and you squirt milk everywhere 🙈

I love my boppy pillow! Also lots of nursing pads! You will go thru them like diapers! Milk bags if you're pumping

I really liked the lanisoh hot/cold pads. You can microwave for heat or freeze for cold. Really nice when your supply is still adjusting. 
Otherwise I didn’t use much of the other equipment besides nursing tanks. I barely leaked so didn’t use nursing pads, and my nipples didn’t need much cream either. 
We did use shields and I definitely wouldn’t start with them unless you have a problem. They’re fussy and can be time consuming to wean from
