I'm planning to breastfeed for more then a year.

I stopped breastfeeding at about 5months because baby stopped wanting the breast and wouldn’t even come close to latching. It was very stressful because all of my support was telling me to keep pumping but my supply was dropping so fast. Switched to formula only when I got to only making 1oz per pump session. Ever since we quit trying our house has been so much less stressful and baby started sleeping through the night! Happy Mom = happy baby vice versa

I stopped at 2month 1/2 bc she had allergies to something in my milk and we couldnt figure out what and it was harddd. She wanted me so bad and the engorgement suckkked. Two weeks it took to finally have normal breasts.

At 9 months he started drinking from a straw cup.    I weaned him from the breast like 3 weeks before he turned one. At that point he was only feeding 3 times morning mid day and for bedtime. So I took the morning feeding first that one was the hardest for my boobs because that’s when my breast were the most full from overnight so they were hard and painful for like 3 days I did ice packs and advil and would massage my boobs but not express them. I replaced the feeding with half formula and half breast milk and just kept offering the straw cup with it so he got used to the taste because he would just take sips here and there. I think that was like a day just doing half and half then I just gave him formula and he was used to the taste so he would Finish the whole cup of formula. Then I took the after noon feeding and replaced it w formula. And like the night before he turned one i just put him to sleep with out breastfeeding him and it was weird for him at first because I would go to the room feed him and then put him to sleep. So the last time I just went to the room rocked Him and then laid him down. He was confused at first but then was like ok this is my new norm and went to sleep.

We had trouble even getting started even though I badly wanted to breastfeed. I had to just endure engorgement for a few days, but my milk had barely come in, so it wasn’t too big of a deal.
