MY TURNšŸ˜

The birth of my first daughter Skyla Elizabeth. šŸ’•

I am just now writing my birth story because letā€™s be real, adjusting to the new mom life is challenging. My daughter is turning 3 months tomorrow and I just canā€™t believe it, where has all the time gone???!šŸ˜

Well Iā€™ll start from the very beginning. My last OB apt was October 23rd and I had gotten my membranes swept...On October 25th around 4 am I got up to go pee and I had realized my sheets were a bit wet, so I went to the bathroom, peed, and as I got up I noticed I was still dripping. Right then I knew what was happening because Iā€™ve never had issues with my bladder ever in my life or during my pregnancy whatsoever. Just to clarify it was dripping down my legs, so I leaned over the counter and it started leaking a bit stronger and it kept leaking but there was no gush. Movies are so dramatic, with that gush atleast. Because I sure as hell didnā€™t experience that, it was just dripping...so even though there wasnā€™t a gush I instantly knew my water had broken. I was thrilled and so nervous at the same time. I called labor and delivery and explained what I experienced and the lady had told me to wait an hour take a shower get ready for the day then come in. So I woke up my boyfriend and was so excited I could barley speak, all I could muster up was ā€œITā€™S TIMEā€ so he got up in a frantic packed all our things in the car and we were off just life that. I was so eager to meet my babygirl I didnā€™t care to get ready much besides I knew Iā€™d end up crying anyways so whatā€™s the point of doing my makeup lol. So we got the the hospital and the nurse checked to make sure I had broken my water and sure enough I didšŸ˜ They got us settled in a room of our own, the room I was going to delivery my baby!! It was so exciting the nurses were so nice I absolutely adored them. So time starts to go by and Iā€™m having family and friends visit me, and still feeling wonderful no pain at all. Before I knew it two days had gone by and I still didnā€™t have my daughter In my arms...Oct.27th around 5 am they started me on pitocen because I was at high risk for infection since my water broke and itā€™s been two days and baby still wasnā€™t out. So around 9am I started feeling it BAD. That Pitocin got things moving really quickly I was in the most pain Iā€™ve ever been in in my entire life. Iā€™ve always had a low pain tolerance and those contractions had me screaming in a pillow every two minutes no exaggeration. I remember getting my epidural wasnā€™t nearly as bad as I had imagined and worked it up to be. I was so grateful for that I canā€™t even explain. Well a few more hours went by and my epidural kept wearing off on one side so they continuously tried to solve that. Before I knew it was time to push I was 10 cm dilated like that. And then it begun. I was pushing for a total of 3 hours. I was so exhausted I was Literally falling asleep between contractions. All I remember of that was the first 10 minutes of pushing, and I also remember when the head was out, which was about an hour and a half in, I remember saying ā€œcanā€™t you just pull her outā€šŸ˜©šŸ˜šŸ˜‚ once her head was out it was out for about an hour and then my OB finally decided to give me some help via vacuum suction assist and an episiotomy..then I remember the last 10 mins and they kept saying ā€œone more pushā€ they mustā€™ve told me that at least 6 times haha. Mind you I wasnā€™t pushing with the proper muscles thanks to the epidural, (I kept lifting my but up, but she told me to keep it down which really helped) and once I did figure it out she entered the world! Weighing a whopping 10pds 9oz! 22inches long at exactly 2:03 pm on her due date! Born at 40 weeks to the day. šŸ˜„ Iā€™m amazed at how giving birth wasnā€™t the worst part about delivery, itā€™s the damn contractions before the epidural and I wouldā€™ve never guessed that. She was a little jaundice so she did stay in the nursery for three days getting her Billy Rubin levels checked every 12 hours. They were also concerned about some fluid in her head but that ended up being just fine, no concerns needed. Now before my daughter, Iā€™ve never seen a newborn baby before so she was tiny to me but everyone kept telling me how huge she was and also she had an extreme conehead which freaked me out not going to lie, obviously she was beautiful regardless to me and her daddy. But I didnā€™t expect thatšŸ˜… By the way, Iā€™m 21 and my boyfriends 22 ā¤ļø Thanks for taking time to read this ladies! I myself love a good birth story so I just had to share mineā˜ŗļø hereā€™s some pictures of my little family šŸ’•šŸ˜

Here she is one day old In the nursery, you can really see how long her poor head was!

(The brown looking stuff on her belly button was from her pediatrician cauterizing it will silver nitrate to keep it from growing)
