Copper IUD pain?

I'm getting my copper IUD put in tomorrow and I'm extremely nervous. I'm not good with pain at all. Tips/advice with dealing with it? And how bad is the spotting after?

Just breathe and try to relax! Take some headphones and listen to music if it might distract you a little? I got my partner to drive me and I'm really glad I did cos I dont think I could have driven myself home, but then some people have said they were fine. I spent that whole day in bed cos of the cramping, but that night it wasn't too bad. Spotting that day and prob 4more. I didn't have my period at insertion either though. Also I'd advise taking your own pad...the one I was given wasn't heaps comfortable haha. Also make sure you eat something before it!! I wish I did 🤦🏽‍♀️

Best advice I was given. Take painkillers as soon as you can so ibuprofen and paracetamol on a alternating schedule. So take one then take an alternate painkiller an hour or two later. Don’t wait for the pain just take them and keep a hot water bottle on hand and take it easy- not too much heavy lifting

I had one put in last week it wasn’t bad at all. Drink ALOT of water before the procedure. The more water you drink easier it is for them to put it in. More water less pain

I've have two paragaurd IUDs. one before baby and one after baby. Take. couple Tylenol right before you leave to go to the GYN. It was painful when being inserted, but not unbearably so. It was not painful after I got home. Both times I was bleeding already so not sure on the spotting aspect.

it wasn't too bad being put in, but I did have cramping after for awhile. Take some ibuprofen before you go in!
