My dr told me to wait 5 days before I had sex, can I use tampons for the bleeding?

My doctor told me it was fine to use a tampon as long as you are careful taking it out. I used it the day after getting my IUD and I continue using it with no problem.

I just got my IUD yesterday and my dr told me not to. She said patients have pulled out their IUD before while taking the tampon out. Also I wouldn’t put anything inside you because there’s always a possibility of infection.
