On a more serious note, I think that pit bulls can be raised right and be a perfect companion. I have yet to meet such vicious animals that they are portrayed to be.

Any dog can be aggressive. Pit bulls happen to have a jaw that can do a lot of damage which is why their bites are so dangerous. But if the dog is well trained that isn’t usually an issue at all. There are some dogs (not just pit bulls) that are more aggressive naturally. Then those dogs shouldn’t be family dogs and have owners that can handle them and take precautions to prevent any mishaps. 
Lots of dog attacks are actually because the owner did something stupid. Many little kids get attacked by a normally really sweet dog because their parents aren’t stopping them doing something they shouldn’t and the dog gets scared and lashes out. Which is a normal and natural response for the dog. Most often the dog has previously given off signs that it’s uncomfortable but the child is too young to understand or the parents don’t notice. There was once a video of a dog attack I saw on Facebook where a little girl, maybe a little over a year, was ‘reading’ to her dog. She was leaning against him and kept swinging her hand back- a totally normal little kid thing trying to get the dog to notice what was going on. It was 100% normal. But she was hitting the dog in the eye. The dog was trying to move away but couldn’t and he gave off typical signs. The parents kept telling the dog to be quite when he growled, etc. The next time the little girl hit the dog he bit her hand. The parents were outraged at the dog. I was outraged at the parents for not helping their dog and removing their little girl. 
Dogs that are trained well, regardless of breed, and you pay attention to their body language will very very likely never hurt anyone especially a child.

ALL dogs, no matter what breed and no matter how they’ve been raised have the POTENTIAL to be aggressive/cause harm. 
Not a chance in hell would I trust a dog around my children! 
My brothers dog is a lovely natured, extremely well trained sheep dog, but I still dont trust her as far as I can throw her! 
Dogs are wild by nature and no matter how well trained, always have the ability to snap for no reason whatsoever.
Children should never be left unattended with dogs if any breed or upbringing.

Honestly  I  dont trust any dog doesnt matter the breed. I've  been attacked/bit at by my familes dogs ranging  from a pug to a rotti which we had to put down eventually  because of his aggression. I'm cautious  with all dogs around my baby no matter if it looks nice or not. Also, I  cant say that ive ever been afraid of a pit bull all I  have encountered were so sweet. I do have a healthy  fear of Rottweilers and will never own one or let  my gaurd down near one.

Jesus you can make a cat mean the way you raise it! It's the owners not the animals fault if there raised right they will be right raised wrong well that's your problem
