When the ovulation test was positive and then is negative does that mean egg is gone and wasn’t fertilised?

Ovulation tests pick up a surge in the lutenising hormone (LH) this hormone surges just before you ovulate - its this hormone that triggers ovulation. Usually after you get your first positive opk you will ovulate 12-36 hours late. 
LH tests don't tell you whether the egg is there or whether it's gone or whether it's been fertilized unfortunately.
It is also possible to get the surge on the opk but not actually ovulate then. Usually if this happens you will have another surge and ovulate later in your cycle.
Opk's help to predict possible ovulation by identifying a surge in your body of LH. Temps (taking your bbt every day) confirms ovulation.

Answer

Just means that you’re not ovulating anymore. It can’t tell you if you succeed fertilization. That’s what the two week wait and pregnancy tests are for.
