Ketones

Sarah

So, I have none of the typical risk factors other than age for GD. I met with the RN and she was recommending more carbs than I currently eat. I went on low carb diet, eating as much as I want (ie not hungry just protein and vegetable heavy). My numbers look great but I got ketone test strips and have large ketones in my urine today. I’m trying to increase carbs to get rid of the ketones but I am concerned my blood sugars will spike to the point of needing insulin. I cannot seem to get a clear opinion about ketones online and my OB office is not calling me back. I would prefer to avoid insulin if possible. What do you all think?
