Not sure I’m doing this right

Alex

I’m having a hard time sticking to the 2-3 hour pumping schedule. My son is 3 1/2 weeks old, and sometimes I go 4 or 5 hours without pumping because I’m exhausted and I just don’t wake up, or I’m too busy trying to keep up with him and everything else. When I pump I get anywhere from 4-7.5 oz (depending on how long it’s been since I’ve pumped). The drawer in my fridge is already overflowing with milk- in fact we’re about 6 days ahead in terms of how much extra we’ve got. Here are my questions- Is this enough to maintain exclusive breastmilk for months to come? I’m not sure that I’m getting enough each session. Once I start moving towards cutting back pump sessions and spreading them further out, will I just produce more each session so that I’m still getting the same amount end of day? I’m trying to get better about sticking to the schedule it’s just so hard when you’ve got a newborn that doesn’t believe in a schedule lol. Any help is appreciated- this pumping stuff can get confusing.
