Flu shot!?!?!

I am no expert that’s why I’m on here trying to see what you guys know or have heard or experienced. So I have to get the flu shot 2 weeks later from my ob. But I am scared there is this flu shot rumor going around that whoever gets it could cause death... But i have read some people say they got it and nothing happened... idk what to do someone help.. I’m just a worried.(16 weeks pregnant)

Flu shots are super safe - most women I know have had one in pregnancy. There are very rare cases of side effects. You know what's super dangerous during pregnancy? The FLU. Pregnant women are particularly susceptible. That can end you up in the ICU, losing the baby or worse. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of hospital admissions and a large number of deaths this year: the flu shot (while not perfect) provides some protection against this. That's why it's universally recommended to pregnant women. You may have anti-vaxxers telling you otherwise, but they're not medical professionals and scientists who understand the research on this. It's completely your choice to protect yourself and your baby: talk to your OB about your flu shot fears.

It is highly recommended to get the flu shot when pregnant. 
The prolonged high temperature of the flu can cause damage to your baby. (Helen Keller was born deaf and blind because her mother had a high fever while pregnant with her).
Even if it doesn’t prevent every strain of flu, I would protect myself and my baby as much as possible.

Wait.... there’s a rumor it causes death ??? Lol that’s amazing.
The flu is optional, and its only 30% effective (so they say)- meaning if you get the shot and get exposed to the flu, it’s still a 70% chance the shot won’t work.  
Plus it isn’t well-studied in pregnant women as a separate group.  
I’m really picky about what pharmaceuticals I’ll take while preggos (basically none unless I have no choice).
I’m opting out for those reasons.
But the flu is a bad one this year.  If you’re worried about the flu, go ahead! I think you can rest assured you will survive the experience. :)

Haven’t heard this rumor...and if that’s all it is with no scientific research to back it up why would you even pay attention to it? THE FLU is causing deaths. NOT the shot that can aid in preventing it. I got mine (and I never get one) at 15w because it was recommended and if I can do one more thing to protect my health/my baby’s health, I’m going to.

U don’t have to get it, you’re doing right by doing your research but they cannot make u get a flu shot. They’ve asked me on 3 different appointments & I always say no so they stopped asking.

A friend of mine is a nurse & she refuses to get her kids or herself the flu shot. Personally Im allergic to the flu shot.

I get the flu shot every single year for my job (even when I was in hs and college I got it) - I’ve never had any type of reaction for it. 
I got the shot this year at 13 weeks. Baby and I are healthy and growing.

You could have an allergic reaction to an ingredient and die, but that is super rare (and complications would probably happen immediately at the doctors office/hospital). I wouldn’t be worried about dying from the flu shot. That being said, I never get the flu shot and I especially won’t get it during pregnancy. They don’t research vaccines on pregnant women or fetuses.

My adult cousin was hospitalized and nearly died from the flu shot a few years ago. She's a teacher and got it every year but that one year she happened to have a serious reaction. It's extremely rare though,  severe car accidents are more common. However they're also not that effective, especially this year, so I'm declining.
