Csection aftermath?

Question

So my doctor is going to be scheduling a csection for me and this will be my first one. Anything I should know, maybe things the doctor typically wouldn’t bring up? I’ve been told by a friend that I wouldn’t be able to drive for a short time around two weeks or so due to the surgery? My first baby I had naturally.

What I’ve heard (my mother had 4 c-sections) is that it sucks to recover but at least there is something (the baby) to take your mind off some of the pain haha. Unlike regular surgery where you just have to deal with it, at least you have a distraction. 
I’ve also heard to get up and keep moving. Obviously don’t start training for a marathon or anything, but the less you baby it, the faster you heal and the quicker you’ll adjust to the pain.
These are just tips/info I’ve gotten from others, but hopefully it helps you a bit! I hope everything goes well and you recover quickly!

My recovery was really tough after my c-section. I had a hard time getting in and out of bed. My baby was really big and I had a hard time lifting her without using ab muscles.

Agree with previous poster about support binder! It wraps super tight around your belly so when you sneeze, cough or laugh it doesn’t pull at your incision. The wrap also helps getting up and down - it’s magical! Another thing is you’ll have trouble going #2 for a while - at least I did. Stopping the prescription pain killers really helps with going to the bathroom. Good luck, you’ll do great!

Not gonna lie, it’s the FUCKING WORST! I’ve had 2 c-sections and have my 3rd scheduled for February 16th and I’m scared to DEATH because I know exactly what to expect and what’s going to happen and how I’m going to feel afterwards. They say it gets easier each time but I disagree. It gets worse every time 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Support binder they provide in hospital is all things amazing

Stay up on your pain meds, even if this means asking your nurses to wake you to take it.

Start walking as soon as they allow you to and walk often. You will heal faster.

I drove after a week of being home with both of mine- if you’re on pain killers you definitely want to wait. I would try to get up as soon as you can after surgery and walk around and drink plenty of water. Also a support binder really helped me feel secure!

I'm having my 2nd c section tomorrow. You won't be able to drive for 2 weeks. Make sure there is someone who can bring you to and from appts. You're going to be in a ton of pain. The closer baby is to your bed the better so you don't have to walk so far... getting up in the hardest part. Your breast milk, if you breast feed, takes a couple days longer to come in.  I found pumping helpful to get it going. That's just a few things I can think of.
