Did you plan any of your shower

Question

My mom won’t let me do anything for the shower or have any say. I know a shower is a gift but it’s starting to feel like a party for her. Btw, I don’t plan on accepting gifts from guests even though this is my first. What was your experience?

I didn’t plan anything but a guest list simply because I trusted her opinions completely and loved all of her ideas. She ran everything past me and always sought my input, but she planned things way better than I could have. If I didn’t like anything she was doing however, I would have told her. It’s your shower, if it’s turning into something that’s not your taste, or something you wouldn’t enjoy, I would tell her.

I planned my shower. I put everything together, picked everything out, went and saw the venue. My mom paid for the entire thing and my best friend and her mom and my mom set it up the day of. I'm very particular and like things a certain way. And my moms a cancer patient and my best friend is pregnant also so someone had to do it! Good luck! Also take the gifts!!! Trust me it all comes in handy even if its thing you don't like or don't need, just return it. I got well over 1500 in gifts and ended up with over $500 in gift cards and store credit after I returned things.

I was taught showers are gifts, so basically whoever is hosting is doing it to celebrate who ever is being "showered" - I would sit back, relax and enjoy being showered with love and gifts! If you didn't want a shower you can always just decline having one at all, otherwise try not to stress and enjoy. I think only things I've helped with for both my bridal and baby shower was guest list (which you should of course have some say in!) and sometimes host has asked favorite foods, drinks, etc.

I’m very good with photoshop and my mom doesn’t have a ton of money so I wanted to design the invites and i paid for them too. I bought a couple of the decorations as well. But my mom did everything. She was throwing it. I threw my sisters (well me and my mom did) and my sister was VERY opinionated on how she wanted ya to look and everything. We took her way into account but me and my mom did everything... she was just like “I want it to look classy blah blah blah”

I had some say as far as who I wished to invite and I also picked the theme. So my mom has pretty much taken those things and ran with with them. Everything else is out of my hands and I rather like it that way, leaves me stress free.

I pretty much paid for my whole party because my mother was supposed to but didn't go back to work when she originally planned so she couldn't do it and we already had everything planned just needed to get paid for some I had to do it

I’m having two. Helping with the one my best friend is throwing, and not really helping with the family one. My mom tends to take over and do things her way, so I’m hoping she thinks about things I actually like. I’m pretty simple and we have very different taste. My best friend I trust completely, but I feel bad having her do so much work so I’m helping her with some stuff :)

I didn't do anything for my first shower, but it was out of state and mostly family. my second shower, I did most of the planning. my mom helped me get it all together
