how do y’all feel about doing the waterline for your eyeliner?

i do a bunch of theatre, and have never been too good at stage eyeliner and recently one of my girl friends said to do the waterline and i’m just too afraid that i’ll like poke myself in the eye or something 😂 but i wanted opinions!! what do you guys think of waterline eyeliner?

I feel like it makes my eyes look super small when I go in the waterline 😂 so I stick with putting it on my lash line.

Hey, I'm a theater girl too and once I started doing eyeliner on my water line I was in love, that's how I will forever wear it! Also because I have small eyes so I can't do wings and stuff with out looking dumb lol.
But I put it on both the top and bottom waterline, I poke myself sometimes but it's not as bad as it sounds!! This is what mine looks like when its done!

I do the top! Never the bottom, doing the bottom reminds me of my 7th grade “emo” phase lmaooo so I do the top lid water line  Makes my mascara pop too!!

I normally put a cream color or nothing in my lower waterline because my eyes are watery, but I always do black in my tight line (under the lashes). It’s a little scary at first, but I’m used to it now. A light color (cream or white) or no liner in on the water line with a darker color smudged on the actual lash line makes the eyes appear larger, so to me that seems like a better idea for stage makeup. I only use black on the waterline if it is a dark and dramatic eye look usually.
