To be discreet.  Lets say I was fairly clear that i do not plan to use X when baby comes. When i told my inlaws this  they chuckled with a "yea right." Then MIL went out and bought one. She didn't tell me she bought it, she's only told my husband (probably because she knows I'll be mad) I feel completely undermined not to mention I really prefer picking out bigger ticket items myself.  Not sure how to handle situation without causing WW3 because frankly I'm furious and once again she's created arguments between my husband and I.
