Solid food ?

Question

When will you start to feed your baby solid food? I don’t want to do cereals because they constipate my son. I’m just wondering when every one will start to feed solids. My son eats about 6oz every two hours but he’s not stay full for very long. He wakes up after a two hour nap eats 6oz is awake for about hour and before going back to sleep he wants another 2-4oz. I’m going through formula every 3 days now. I feel like he’s always hungry

Solids can really harm their digestive tract if given too early. The longer you wait the better. “Food before one is just for fun”. Formula or breast milk need to be the primary source of nutrition until 12 months.

I think you use the doctors recommendations as guidelines, but you know your baby. My older son we started on veggies at 3 months and he was fine. Only about 1oz, once a day. So we are doing the same with our second son. Just started on Sunday and he’s doing great with it and actually seems to be spitting up half as often as before. I’m sure I’m going to have someone tell me how horrible I am, but he is my son.

I give my son cereal he is 3m but I have been doing it since 2m but it was recommended by his dr because it helps with his acid reflux.

I think 6mos is recommended but in some cases they recommend 4mos. I would ask your pediatrician at your next visit.

I was originally planning on no purees at all, but to do baby led weaning, hopefully starting at 6 months. Now that baby is almost 4 months, I don't know. I will discuss with her pediatrician at her 4 month appointment.

The cereal I bought says supported sitter. I gave my son a few teaspoons in his milk a few times. He’s does okay but I do notice he spits up a little more. So I’m going to wait a few more weeks and try again. He’s 4 months.
