Could mom have handled this better?

Im a young teen, told my mother i might be pregnant she threatened to kick me out & wouldn't even buy me a pregnancy test. I understand she has reason to take it out on me, but ive asked her to put me on birth control several times & she never took me. Now she's not talking to me at all. We don't have a close relationship, but this time i actually opened up to her & every time i do it just makes me feel like it was a mistake. I feel like she's being a hypocrite because she got pregnant the same age that i am now.

I'm sorry to hear of your situation. However, just because she didn't take you to get birth control doesn't mean you should be irresponsible with sex. There are options out there to get birth control for cheap/free. Check with your local health department. They can also give you a pregnancy test.

You're trying to redirect responsibility for your actions onto her with the way you phrase things. You're old enough to know the consequences of sex, and old enough to take precautions. Planned parenthood offers tons of freebies, including condoms, and services. Just because she won't initiate these things for you, that doesn't mean you can't go do it yourself.

If you end up not being pregant please find a planned parenthood and start taking responsibility for you birth control. If you're old enough to have sex then you're old enough to find birth control options without waiting for your mom. I don't think she's a hypocrite. She doesn't want what happened to her, and maybe she's in a bit of denial. You say you're a young teen...how young? Maybe you're too young to have sex in the first place. Either way, if my daughter asked to be on birth control, I would let her. I wouldn't intentionally let her be in any situation to have sex unless she's over 18, but I sure as hell wouldn't throw her out if she was pregnant. I'd help raise the baby, or adopt it if that's what she wanted. Your mom could've handled it better, but she probably just panicked. Stay safe. Hope it all works out.

I'm sorry hun but it sounds like your mom needs to grow up. Have you taken a pregnancy test yet? If not you can go to your local health department and they will give you a free test. Also they are not allowed to speak with your parents about you (unless you give them permission) also if your not pregnant they can get you on birth control for free and give you condoms. If you need to talk im here. I was 18 when I had my daughter and my parents didn't talk to me for months. It's hard
