My partner had a previous girlfriend and have three children with her. She pushed him into alot of things and was always nagging him for marriage and more children instead of just going with the flow, she ended up cheating on him and is now married with the guy. Anyway

Me and my partner been together for five years and have two beautiful children. He says he doesn't want marriage because of how he was pushed into the conversation with he's last girlfriend. She basically ruined it for him and he is really turned off on the idea because of how they ended.

But I'm so deeply in love with him and want to suprise him and ask him to marry me on Valentine's day. I know I would get shut down but I will never know unless I ask :( what would you do in my situation
