No more ultrasounds?

Question

I’m 30 weeks with a doctors appt this week coming up. I haven’t received an ultrasound since the 20 week anatomy scan. My doctor said if there’s no medical reason for it, they won’t do another one for the whole pregnancy! 
I’m just a little concerned because i feel like they should be checking? I’ve also been diagnosed with a large blood clot in my leg back at 24 weeks and still never received any extra appointments or ultrasounds? I also have a really small belly. You can’t even tell I’m pregnant still and at my last appt my doctor just used a tape measure and said it was fine? Is there anything i can do? I am honestly just worried more about babies weight at this point and how he is doing and where he is positioned? 
Anyone else not getting any extra ultrasounds? Should i go somewhere else and get one done?

2 ultrasounds is typical. They don’t want to over expose your baby to the radiology used. 
At least that’s what I’ve been told. If at every appointment you measure well and baby is moving. Ultrasound really isn’t needed.

I’ve only had extra because I was classed as high risk at the start and they wanted to keep an eye on the baby’s growth. I’ve had and extra scan at 28 weeks plus I’ve got them booked in for 32 and 36 weeks. Unless there’s something wrong it’s normal to just have them at 12 and 20 weeks. There are loads of places that do them privately if your really worried

2 ultrasounds are typical.  If you’re uterus measures 3 Cm small or large compared to wear you should be my ob sends you to the specialist for an ultrasound.   My 24 week I measured 27 weeks.  I saw the specialist yesterday and baby was measuring a week ahead at 28 weeks.  I see the ob today so I’m curious what my uterus measurement is.    Be glad you don’t have to go. It made me really anxious something was wrong waiting a month to see the specialist

My first only had two, until I started having prodromal labor at 37 weeks. I think he ended  up getting a couple more after that to check everything was ok, since he did not actually come till almost 41 weeks! My second had only two, but she was basically textbook. My third was ectopic, only ultrasound was at rupture at 7.5 weeks. Now on my fourth, and I had an extra early ultrasound to confirm it was not ectopic, then the standard two, and a fourth to finish measurements at 24 weeks (stinker was moving too much and would not show them his spine!). Should be done till the end at this point.
It sounds like the doctor is not concerned with baby's growth, and ultrasound is no more reliable than fundal height for checking baby's size. It might make you feel better, but that is the only reason for it.

My first pregnancy I got an elective ultrasound at 8 wks at a boutique to show my mom before I left the state to move, one to confirm at the doc at 13 wks, anatomy scan at 20 wks, and a follow up scan at 24wks because they found a choroid plexus cyst that had dissolved on its own by then. So medical ultrasounds was (3). This pregnancy I got the confirmation at 8 wks, an elective gender reveal ultrasound at a boutique at 16 wks, and the anatomy scan at 20 wks. Since they did not find anything they needed to check up on they will not be doing anymore medical ultrasounds (2). I might do another elective one because we didn’t get a good view at anatomy but my doc says they can do them there but it will be out of pocket but that they are still more affordable than the boutique place in our area!

You can always pay for one at a boutique place. But 1-2 ultrasounds per pregnancy is typical and many insurance plans will not pay for more than that.

I have one more medical 2D ultrasound at 32-34w because of my age and we still decided to pay for a private 3D/4D at 29-30w.  I think it was totally worth it especially since we got a good sense of what the baby looks like and how big he/she is.  If it helps you reduce any stress you have over your/your baby's health, I would definitely book something.

I also haven’t had an ultrasound since week 20, but it’s normal. Some doctors don’t think you need another one if they don’t have a medical reason for it. But i set up an appointment for a 4D ultrasound, i have to pay for it, but i want to see my baby boy.
