When did your baby stop wearing mittens!

He is scratching his face so bad but my midwife said don’t file or trim his nails and they’ll just get longer and sharper quicker!! 
But he can’t wear any nice outfits unless they have mittens attached to them!

You should definitely cut his nails. My mom personally would pitenout nails off because she was too scared with the clippers. It sounds weird but it works.

My son was never able to wear them. His hands were too small and they would just fall off and by the time his hands were big enough he no longer needed them. We just used clothing that has the parts bag fold over his hands. Also no one is judging a baby who’s dressed cute but wearing mittens. And if your LOs nails are too long you can clip them. Idk where some of these doctors get their logic from. Nails grow. They grow whether you cut them or not. I’d rather have to clip my sons nails every few days rather than him scratching himself with daggers.

It has no effect on how fast they grow, you can file them gently while baby sleeps if you’re nervous to use a nail clipper.

Never used them. I put them on him in the hospital but that was it.. he did scratch hisself a few times but nothing too bad. My husband cut his nails when he was like a week or two old and I’ve bitten his nails off before because I don’t like using the clippers.

We've been cutting our babes nails since two weeks (we filed them before that). Pretty sure them growing in faster is an old wives tale. The mittens just fall off so we never really used them after the first few days.
