why do we need blood drawn?

i remember being younger and having to go to the doctor for a checkup. i got some shots and a lot of blood drawn. i wasn't scared.. i was just thinking what was it was all for? was there something wrong with me? so why do we have to get blood drawn? for what precautions?

They take a sample of your blood and send it to pathology to be tested. They can test for all kinds of things. If you were sick they could have been looking at you red and white blood cell count as well as you electrolyte balance. There is literally a million things you can test for and look at levels of things with blood. Just really depends on the reason why you went to the doctors in the first place.

My doctor orders blood work every year to check cholesterol, blood sugar, thyroid, liver, and he checks my vitamin b-12 and vitamin d levels because mine were really low a few years ago.

There are many things a blood test is needed for med dosage‚ vitamin levels‚ checking blood type‚ seeing if one is positive for diseases‚ drug testing‚ checking for bacterial growth etc. Just do some research on google.
