Am I nuts?

Question

My husband is going back to work so with both us working, our 14 month old is going to daycare ($1200+ a month).
I recently took off 3 weeks from my job and our son got soooo much more attached to me. It's the best feeling ever.
It breaks my heart that I can't stay home with him.
I did some research, and if I was to quit my job (which I HATE anyways), there is a very good chance my son could get free medical insurance and I could stay home with him. 
Also, my dad has told me that if I ever want to quit he would help me and my family out financially if needed.
So, I'm seriously considering doing this.

If you do it, do it on your own. Cut back on all expenses.. but your dad shouldn’t be financially responsible for y’all anymore. Maybe save all of your paychecks for 6-12 months, act like you’re not working so don’t spend the money you wouldn’t have, just use your hubbies money. Once you’ve saved a number you’re comfortable with then quit and have that money to fall back on. Staying at home sounds very nice, but it’s not as fun as you’d think. At the same time, this would be the time to do it. If y’all do have to cut back and “suffer” your baby won’t really remember too much of it

It really just depends on how much you want to feel like you rely on others. Just remember/keep in mind that favors are not free. Whenever you depend on someone else for money, you open yourself up to them being able to tell you what to do with your life...and no matter what, with that kind of financial assistance, there is going to be some form of feeling of resentment on both sides. It doesn’t matter who it is, it’s just reality. 
This is really something you should discuss with your husband. If we were ever in this sort of position, I know my husband would NEVER be okay with taking financial assistance from the government or from my father.

I quit my job 8 months ago to stay home with my daughter. We were trying to handle it ourselves with me working days and him working nights to avoid daycare. However that just got too stressful for us both. Daycare around me is 1300+ a month. When I combined that cost, with the extra expenses in travel, and eating out because we both would be to tired to cook at home constantly, it did not seem like I would be bringing home much. Definitely not enough to justified having a stranger taking care of my baby. We have had to tighten our budget since I quit, but it has been worth it. My hubby and I get along better because I’m able to devote myself to the family and I’m not so stressed from trying to handle work and my family. If you can swing it financially it might be a good thing to try out.

It’s great that you have the opportunity to do this. Just think long-term as well. Are you in a field that means it will be difficult for you to be re-employed after a significant amount of time off? Would you need to complete a minimum amount of hours to keep your registration valid? Would you need to keep doing ongoing professional development to stay relevant and competitive for future jobs? Just consider all possible scenarios. Good luck. It’s not an easy decision.

u should do it but make sure u consider before making that decision bcuz take it from me, being a home mom it's cool but sometimes it gets bored too specially if u are like those women who used to treat herself every month
