Umbilical cord fell off but is it safe?

My sons umbilical cord finally fell off🙌🏼 but now his belly button looks like it’s being held closed by the blood. I’m afraid it won’t fully heal without getting air. Can I put warm water on a Q-Tip and loosen up the blood? Or do I just leave it alone?

I was just told Tuesday by pediatrician alcohol and qtip to clean it off.

My son's doctor had me do rubbing alcohol in the q tip to cleanse. I'd ask your doctor though, just to be safe.

My daughters umbilical cord got pulled off when she was just 5 days old and I of-course panicked there was dried blood around the outside and it looked all wet on the inside like it hadn’t healed yet the dr had me wash it every day with baby shampoo and rinse it really well then I would dry it really well and now it looks perfect your sons doesn’t look bad at all just make sure that if u wash it dry it really well and if it starts to get get red and inflamed then take him to the dr

Talk to your PEDS doctor, but my babies looked the same way last week.  He told me to use a qtip with hydrogen peroxide daily and then put Neosporin on it.

Leave it alone. I never touched my sons and it’s fine now.

I would leave it alone. I was told no alcohol on it because it will dry out the skin. It looks perfectly fine and healthy. If it starts to get infected or red then I would ask your doctor but just washing in the bath should be fine
