Why is weight a huge factor in TTC?

I don't get how someone's weight can affect TTC? Can someone explain this to me, so you can be perfectly fine with your reproductive system but If you have too much weight on you
there is a 99% chance u will have a hard time getting pregnant I don't get it why.

Kate is absolutely correct. Fat cells store estrogen and while estrogen is great, it hinders progesterone which helps placental growth and makes sticky beans. Overweight women have a much higher rate of chemical pregnancies. They just don't like to stick with all that estrogen surging. And what a wonderful thing that being overweight is the only issue. Losing weight is something that can easily be taken control of.

Fat cells store estrogen- so if you are outside the zone, you can have either too much or too little estrogen in your system which can throw things off- especially the length and regularity of cycles.

I've been wondering about the same thing.  If I'm ovulating regularly and my bloodwork is normal, is my excess weight still hindering my ability to conceive?

My dr said your weight is only a prob if it's impacting the way you ovulate - being over or under weight can stop ovulation.

When I started BC 4 years ago (quite BC 3yrs ago when we started TTC) the doc told me not to let my weight get past 198(I was and still am 195), because it would lower the effectiveness of the BC.  So the same factor goes into TTC.

Is it really that high of a percent?? If someone is overweight/obese and periods are regular it is likely their weight isn't affecting their fertility..I just think it's mostly due to complications that come along with pregnancy (ie preeclampsia diabetes etc)
