Hilarious health myths you believed?

Almost every kid believes some weird rumour or myth, or makes up a "fact" when they don't understand something - and it's often hilarious when they find out the truth.

What weird myth/lie did you believe as a kid, pertaining to health (or otherwise)?

When I was a kid, I was in French immersion, my first language is English. During my first health class, we were talking about HPV and cervical cancer.

A little bit of important information for those who don't speak French: the French word for "brain" is "cerveau".

My teacher asked the class, "Can anyone tell me why cervical cancer is only a risk for women?"

I had no idea, I had never heard of cervical cancer before, but based on my knowledge of French, I just assumed it was cancer of the brain.

One of my classmates piped up, "Because boys don't have a cervix."

I assumed it was a sarcastic joke, until my teacher agreed and said she was right.

Let me tell you, that was a hilarious few minutes until I figured out what a cervix was.
