Was your epidural turned off once you started pushing?

I had an epidural and once it was ready to push they turned it off. I’m not complaining it only really hurt when I pushed her head out but I figured that was normal. I’ve seen and heard some people’s was left on so I’m just wondering how everyone’s went.

I think it depends on the doctor. I was having trouble pushing and they cut mine off to make it easier to feel what I was doing to make sure I was doing it right. Their intentions are usually not to make it medicine free but allow The medicine to wear off just enough for the baby to come out.

Mine was turned off before I started pushing only because they gave me way to much and I was numb from neck down!

I don’t have a clue, I was pretty preoccupied. I wasn’t in pain while pushing though, just felt pressure.

If your having a hard time pushing, or they feel like you won’t be able to push correctly

the nurse came in at 540 to start pushing minutes later she was trying to find a doctor and I was told not to move. I think in her hurry she forgot to turn it off. son was born at 601, I can say once it was off I was walking within 25 minutes after my episiotomy was stich ed up.

even if they had turned mine off, i never woulda known. i was SO high from the meds & my little girl came out in like 3 pushes
