When should parents allow kids and teens to make their own decisions/mistakes?

Honestly, in my opinion, when they are 18 and out of high school they can start making decisions without my input. You're still a parent of a child even when they're teenagers...You don't need to straight up make their choices for them but they still need guidance.

It depends on what it is. For example, toddlers are totally capable of choosing their own clothes, even if it isn't fashionable. Kids can choose their preferred toys and even help make menu choices. Teenagers need to choose classes and make their own decisions about college and possible careers. If people don't get decision making practice throughout life, then adulthood is like being thrown in the labyrinth without any string or a weapon.

My son is going to be 6 and he makes his own choices but I give him options about what he can do and guide him to making the choices he wants but with guidelines. I'll always do that. When it was me and him alone most of the time because his dad works a lot so we'd talk all the time when we were out about what we were doing and if we had the choice between this or that I give him the option an he'd pick.

Depends basic life skills yes like what to wear or eat fine but like what time they want to come home or where they want to go I'm old fashioned my house my rules you don't like it when your 18 you can move out harsh but it's my way plus my rules aren't real strict no make till 15 no hoochie out fits especially to school no boys in rooms if you want to go somewhere I want to know who's there who's going to be there and what time you coming home regular parent stuff
