Is it tacky to give baby the same middle name as me?

My middle name is Marie and I want to give that to my daughter as well. She is my first born and honestly it does flow well with her first name which will be Vanessa. All the other middle names I've heard with it don't ring as well to me. What do you think?

It's a family tradition on my mom's side for the first girl in each generation tu have the middle name Marie. It's been 4 or 5 generation  that each girl with the middle name Marie have the first girl. I felt honored to keep it going.

I think family names are the only way to go for middle names. It's the perfect way to honor family and carry on some history.

I personally would never reuse a first name. I feel baby needs their own identity however middle names are perfect places to honor family names!

I share my middle name, Dolly, with my mom and gave it to my first born daughter as well and it is my grandmothers first name! My other daughter shares her middle name (Dawn) with my sister, my cousin and her daughter as well and my great aunt. As far as I know none of us hold a grudge about not having our own middle name its kind of a cool connection we have to those we love.

My niece and nephew have their parents middle names. Lyn, and Lee are their middle names and when you have such a common middle name it's hard to stray away from that. Stick to the middle name :)

Three out of five of my children have their middle names after family members. My adopted sons middle name is my adopted dads first name, my youngest daughters middle name is my great grandmothers first name, this child due in 3 weeks will share my middle name. The kids think it's cool too to share something with other family members. They all have meanings that fit them. My vote, not tacky
