What is normal after quitting the patch??

Okay, I've had trouble with Aunt Flo for a long time now. First of all, I have poly cystic ovarian syndrome. At 18 I went on the Nuvaring to regulate my periods and it worked. I had been on the Nuvaring for 4 years when it started giving me trouble with irritating my cervix. So I switched to the patch which I loved. But lately I've had abnormal paps and had to have some in office procedures done. So last month I decided it might be best to give my body a break from BC. I quit mid cycle and immediately started my period. I skipped my next period. 2 weeks after my skipped period I started having this horrible dark brown discharge. It lasted for 3 days. And then I had the lightest period I've ever had for 2 days. Is this normal?? My husband and I are getting ready to try and conceive and I'm just worried that this may be a bad sign?
