Thoughts on 50/50 custody?

My sons dad and i are talking about trying 50/50 with our 2 year old, has any one experienced 50/50 custody? How does it work for you and how does your child cope..

All I can say is do every other week. We've done it all, every other day, weekends one month then weekdays the next, now we're finally on every other week which works best for everyone. She knows she goes to the other house on Mondays so she's not confused. It's equal time with everyone so she's happy and everyone else is happy. It can be hard not seeing her for a week or for her not seeing one family or the other but it's what is best for everyone so we all deal.

It’s best for children’s continuity to do a week on/week off thing. The less adjustments to a different home, the better it is on them. 
That’s all I know. My husband does not have 50/50 of his son even though that’s what we would prefer.

I actually I've on paper primary custody but after my ex husband moved out of state we changed things up a bit. I've always out my kids first. So for us we do a year switch. They are still pretty little under 10 so we are good with it for now. When they get a little older we will let them make a decision of when they want to be got school and where they want to be for the summer. They have no issues with school thus far. We will have them make a decision by middle school/high school. Things will get to hard on them to switch at that point.

we have 50/50 of my step daughter. she actaully has done better with it being 50/50 than how it was previously. she was acting out and just being horrible with her mom. we dont have that issue much any more since we got 50/50. before the court order we had 50/50 verbally when she was about 3 years old. when she turned 5 and was starting kindergarten her mom filed for full custody stating she only wanted her to sleep at one house during the school week and started keeping her and thats when my step daughter started acting out really badly, like screaming and kicking her mom and the doors kind of tantrums, and didnt like that her mom wasnt letting her stay with us. her mom couldn't handle the tantrums and always had to call my SO to try to get her to stop.  we filed for 50/50 and she gave into that in mediation a year later. she put her daughter through so much in that year all when my step daughter told her she just wanted to stay with us like how it was before. ever since we got the court agreement everything has been fine cause her mom cant take away his time anymore.

I've experienced it often through my work. The most important thing is for the two parents to be amicable with each other and never disrespect or undermine one another  in front of the child. Also what is helpful is if you two can have consistent parenting techniques at both houses, as consistency is important for children.

My best friend does half the week and rotating weekends. Monday - Wed they’re with her, then dad’s through Sunday if it’s a dad weekend. Or back with her Friday after work.

From experience I suggest week on, week off. Rotate holidays. Have dinner once a week with the child on your week off. Or one parent having full custody, and the other taking every other weekend visitation. Children need predictability and consistency.

was hard on the kids. i regret it. they are with me now full time (their choice) but now i am having a hard time getting child support due to decree and custody wording. i would have them write it up as u having custody and work with your ex on how often. protect yourself and your son for the long run.

We kinda had 50/50. I couldn’t move out of the city and it was horrible! I felt trapped. My son was about 2 when we divorced and it was hard on him. The first two days was hard because we had to teach rules all over again and he would throw a fit. We also didn’t co parent well so I think it depends on how y’all interact
