The Rideau cottage hadn’t had any renovations in over 40 years because each time the party that is in power thinks “the liberals will spend money on it when they’re in office” or “the conservatives will when they’re in office”. A article stated that a report found the windows, plumbing, electrical systems, heating and air conditioning at 24 Sussex Drive are all in poor to critical condition.

The home also has no fire sprinklers and contains asbestos, which has been linked to disease, including lung cancer.
