Does your child have adhd?

Question

If so, how old were they when diagnosed? 
My son is 5 and I’ve brought it up to his doctor when he was 4 about maybe him having it and she said he is too young and to test for autism. 
His new doctor says its normal for kids his age to be as hyper as he is. 
His teachers are concerned. He cannot sit still during the time he needs to and is constantly interrupting the teacher and talking. He is the same way at home too. They have him jump on a trampoline in a separate room during story time now. It seems no matter how much he runs around or jumps around he is still pretty hyper. It affects his schooling and his sleep. He doesn’t go to sleep till 1130 some nights coming in and out of his room trying to play and is up at 6am running around... I’m just unsure what to do at this point to help him sit and calm down and help him learn better. I don’t give him a bunch of surgery stuff and never anything with caffeine so it’s not that... also he is very impulsive. He will just grab stuff from peoples hands or be watching tv and randomly hit me and he seems like he doesn’t know he did it cuz he continues to watch tv like nothing happened. 
Any advice please?

I would get a different opinion. I don't have any experience but if he's having difficulty in school it's better to get him evaluated sooner rather than later. I always told my student's parents that even if I say something and they feel completely opposite to go with their gut, they know their child better. Good luck!!

I would get a second opinion. Also strongly suggest getting an occupational therapy evaluation. Find an occupational therapist who is familiar in sensory disorders.

While it is common for young kids to have hyper phases it’s messing with his relationships with parents, teachers, and likely other kids. Also with school and as he gets older it’ll make things a lot harder. Take him to a psychiatrist to see if they can get a diagnosis or find another primary care doctor for an opinion and tell them in detail what’s been going on. Many parents are against medication at such a young age but there should be other things you can do to help him if you feel medication is too much at this age. Unfortunately most doctors don’t pay attention and you have to keep at it and not let them boot you out the door.

I would ask his school if they could have him tested. I would ask your doctor for a referral, explaining that it is having a negative impact on his education.
Because it sounds as though it is disrupting his education and also his socialization I would continue pushing until someone tested him. They may be weary of labeling a child so young but he should be eligible for services in school that will assist in his learning.
