For everyone w unexplained infertility...did ya'll have a laparoscopy surgery done to rule anything out? Or do they only do that if you show symptoms of a possible diagnosis?

I had one done. I have PCOS, and after months of failed treatment, the doctor advised that I have the surgery to rule out endometriosis. I didn’t end up having it! We then went on to IVF, and Im currently 5 weeks pregnant!

No. Made the choice not to. Glad I didn't as less than a year later I got pregnant.

I am also annoyed with being labeled unexplained. It's a cop out. My RE hasn't recommended laparoscopic surgery, but has stated numerous time he thinks I have endo. I did have an HSG & everything was fine & has been fine with me & my husband, but have had 3 unsuccessful IUI's and TTC for 2 years now. I am now wondering about this DNA test. I've heard it's expensive. My RE wants to try injectables next. I am iffy on those, oh and 150 mg of Clomid- I don't think so- 100mg about killed me with hot flashes, bloating and pelvic pain

I had one done but it was for a cyst and suspected (and then confirmed) endometriosis. they don't just give surgery for no reason. its expensive and being put under comes with a list of problems. not being able to conceive alone is not a valid reason.

i had laproscopy hystroscopy and D&C.; bcz i had three failed ivf implantations issues  without any specific fertility issues. i had unexplained fertility. but the found level 1 of endometriosis . will see what this transfer will come out as.

I was unexplained until I had a laparoscopy that showed endometriosis. I had ZERO symptoms of endo besides we weren’t getting pregnant. Not only did I have endo, but one of my tubes was stuck to my uterine wall and they were able to unstick it.
I personally think it’s important to see what’s going on inside. The surgery wasn’t too bad, and only cost us $250 out of pocket. It was so nice having a reason besides unexplained infertility! We are currently on our first month of trying since the surgery

For me they only did it because I had symptoms.

We’ve been tested for a lot, but my doctor believes that since the treatment doesn’t change based on additional knowledge gained from a laperscopy he rarely does them now.
I’ve had an HSG, many Day 3 blood panels, Day 21 blood progesterone, STD check, thyroid test, CBC panel, AMH, thrombophilia panel, genetics testing, ultrasounds at the beginning and middle of my cycle... and other things.
I don’t have PCOS and have no symptoms of endometriosis. I also have a normal 27 day cycle.
My husband had a semen analysis at our clinic (done by a human, not a machine)
Our next step is IVF. We decided to take a four cycle break beforehand and so I start STIMs in early March. If your doctor thinks the laperscopy will be valuable you should go for it. 
I’m annoyed by being classified as unexplained infertility.... but I don’t want to have an unnecessary surgery.

Have you had an HSG and a sonohistogram already?  Typically RE's will order those tests plus do an AFC ultrasound, a hormone panel and sperm analysis to rule out medical issues before diagnosing unexplained infertility.  I'm not sure why you would need anything more invasive than that to support a diagnosis.

Mine was hidden male factor, DNA fragmentation, he had normal count, mobility, and morphology so they stopped looking at him.  They blamed on my PCOS I was ovulating without assistance so I was labeled unexplained but when i wanted further explanation they blamed the PCOS. 
I got pregnant twice sign my new partner both on our first try. Get those men tested.
